As part of the Yoga Sangam initiative, the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, organized a large-scale synchronized yoga demonstration at Science City, Kolkata on June 21, 2025, starting at 6:00 a.m. The event followed the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) and began with a live telecast of the national event of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebration led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Participants in the event included officials

from NCSM, the Central Research and Training Laboratory (CRTL), and Science City, Kolkata, along with more than 100 NCC cadets from NCC 33 Battalion. Following the initial demonstration, a detailed yoga session was conducted by renowned yoga instructors Mr. Sanjay Manna and his team, as well as Mr. Abani Dey. They demonstrated various asanas, pranayama techniques, and meditation practices, explaining their scientific benefits for both mind and body.
The programme was graced by the presence of Arjuna Awardee Ms. Soma Biswas as the Chief Guest. In her address, she highlighted the importance of integrating yoga into daily life, stating, “Yoga is a powerful tool for promoting physical and mental well-being. I am honoured to be a part of this event and I encourage everyone to make yoga a part of their everyday routine.”

The International Day of Yoga 2025 marks a significant milestone—celebrating 11 years of a global movement dedicated to holistic health and well-being. With celebrations spanning over one lakh sites across India and many more around the world, this year’s event reaffirmed the universal relevance and enduring legacy of yoga.
NCSM was one of the key institutions identified by the Ministry of Culture to lead this nationwide initiative. The event at Science City, Kolkata witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 500 individuals, reflecting a strong collective commitment to promoting the timeless practice of yoga.
