Abdar, a new, card-based elder care assurance program, is being officially launched in Kolkata on 3rd February 2026, with the aim of ensuring that senior citizens are never left alone when they need support—whether during everyday uncertainties or unexpected situations.
Designed as a relationship-led care coordination program, Abdar focuses on preserving seniors’ independence while ensuring that calm, reliable assistance is always within reach. Unlike traditional elder care services that centre on individual healthcare or home-care offerings, Abdar places a dedicated Relationship Manager at the heart of each membership, supported by structured emergency readiness and coordinated third-party services.

In addition, for the first time in eldercare, Abdar incorporates home and personal accident insurance coverage of upto Rs.65 lacs, making it an attractive, value-added eldercare package prompting brand ambassador Soumitra Ray, the Founder of the popular Bhoomi Band to say “Why wait? Get your Abdar Card today”.
“Abdar is not about routine medicalisation of senior life,” said a spokesperson for the program. “It is about assurance, the comfort of knowing that someone dependable will step in and coordinate help when it truly matters, while respecting the dignity and independence of elders.”
The program has been developed with the realities of modern families in mind, particularly those with children living away from home or overseas, whose elderly parents live in Kolkata. Abdar is a technology-backed program that provides clear communication and transparency for elders and family members, helping reduce anxiety while maintaining the elder’s
autonomy.

Abdar offers two formats: a Comprehensive Care Membership for seniors who benefit from ongoing coordination and support, and ‘Abdar Lite’, a lighter wellness and safety assurance plan for largely independent seniors. Both are delivered
through a single, trusted point of contact and a network of vetted service partners.
At its core, Abdar positions itself not as a healthcare provider, but as a facilitator and coordinator, combining people, processes and services so that help arrives calmly and appropriately when required.
The program is currently available to senior citizens in the Greater Kolkata area.
