A special technical seminar titled “The Role of Hindi in the Spread of Technology and the Application of Hindi IT Tools” was successfully organized on August 7, 2026 (Friday) under the aegis of the City Official Language Implementation Committee (Upkram-2), Kolkata. The event took place in the conference room of the Chairman’s office at the Central Marketing Organization headquarters of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
The keynote speaker, Dr. Balendu Sharma Dadhich—an IT expert and CEO of the Dubai-based Algo Technologies—stated that Artificial Intelligence (AI) serves as a highly effective and crucial aid in research and the expansion of knowledge. However, he emphasized that it cannot replace human critical thinking, creativity, and analytical abilities. He urged researchers to utilize AI as a collaborative tool rather than a substitute for independent thought. He further explained that earlier iterations of AI were largely limited to searching for and retrieving existing information. In contrast, modern generative AI is capable of understanding context and relevance to create new ideas, analyses, and content. During the session, he highlighted the functionality and practical significance of key AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini,

Perplexity, Claude, and Grok. He noted that obtaining optimal results from these platforms requires users to provide clear, specific, and accurate instructions (prompts).
The event commenced with a welcome address by the Committee’s Member-Secretary, Shri Prashant Ojha. He extended a warm welcome to the keynote speaker, Dr. Balendu Sharma Dadhich; Dr. Bichitrasen Gupta, Deputy Director (Implementation) of the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India; and all the distinguished participants present. In his presidential address on this occasion, Shri Surendra Kumar Sharma—President of the Committee and Executive Director of the Central Marketing Organization, Steel Authority of India Limited—stated that the use of the Official Language, Hindi, is no longer confined merely to administrative correspondence and office work. Through artificial intelligence, neural machine translation, voice typing, and various digital technologies, Hindi is currently establishing a strong global identity. He also emphasized that acquiring knowledge of modern information technology tools is essential for the effective use of Hindi in the evolving technological landscape. Approximately 52 participants from various member offices associated with the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (Upakram-2), Kolkata, enthusiastically attended the seminar and benefited from the valuable insights shared by subject matter experts. Dr. Bichitrasen Gupta, Deputy Director (Implementation) of the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and Dr. Rajiv Rawat, Senior Official Language Officer and IT expert from IIT Kharagpur, were notably present at the event.
