Kolkata – Imagine working tirelessly under the scorching sun with no escape from the extreme heat that Bengal witnessed last few months .
This is the harsh reality for countless people living on the street , vendors , daily wagers and rickshaw pullers across India.
Philantropist Sri Bharat J Mehra partnered with Kolkata based ngo Best Friendz Society and distributed 500 umbrellas in the city .
The activity was led for a month in different parts of Kolkata near and a little far . Best Friendz Society carried out the distribution in thier activity zones in Budge Budge, Nandanpur , Charial , Kanpur , Baruipur, Khidderpore, Mominpore, Hasting Slums , joynagar , uluberia , nalpur and few others .
According to Sri Bharat J Mehra he hunted for for the right partner for the cause and hope arrived in the form of Best Friendz Society a remarkable NGO lead by social activist Shagufta Hanaphie who took incharge of distribution.
” Amid the heatwaves the goal to help 500 people was leaded . From students to vendors to slums to villages we reached our target . Next year we plan big . We will surely double our goal and help more people . For street vendors we will get large umbrellas in our next distribution campaign , that would protect them from the sun and the rain as well . ” said Shagufta Hanaphie, Chairperson Best Friendz Society .
