While Durga Puja brings celebrations, new clothes and festivities to cities and towns across Bengal, Sri Bharat J Mehra – Astromancer, Advisor & Philanthropist is taking the spirit of giving to the grassroots with DURGA UTSAV 2026, an initiative dedicated to supporting children and families in Sapkhali, Ganga Sagar.
The initiative was held today, with the distribution of new clothes, dry rations and daily essentials for children and less-privileged families in the community.
A Puja of Giving
The initiative has been planned with a simple objective: to ensure that children in remote communities of Bengal are not left out of the joy and dignity of the festive season.
Approximately 125 tribal children live in the Sapkhali community. The initiative seeks to provide them with new clothes and essential support while also contributing towards their nutritional and educational needs.
The effort is part of Bharat J Mehra’s continuing philanthropic initiatives aimed at supporting children, education, nutrition and vulnerable communities across Bengal.
From Kolkata to the Remote Villages of Bengal
For many children living in remote areas, the festive season can be very different from the celebrations seen in cities.A new set of clothes, a nutritious meal or a packet of essential supplies can become much more than a material contribution—it can bring a sense of belonging, dignity and happiness.
Through Durga Utsav, Bharat J Mehra is seeking to take this message beyond the traditional centres of celebration and into communities where support is deeply valued.
“Durga Puja is a celebration of Maa Durga and the spirit of humanity. If our celebrations can bring happiness to a child who otherwise may not have the opportunity to celebrate, then the festival becomes even more meaningful.” says Sri Bharat J Mehra
Children at the Heart of the Initiative
The Sapkhali initiative is not limited to festive clothing. The larger vision includes continued attention to:New Clothes | Dry Food & Nutrition | Daily Essentials | Education | School Supplies | Regular Child Support
The initiative also aims to encourage continued community participation so that support for children can extend beyond the festive season.
The message is simple:
“A small gesture can create a big difference.”
As Bengal celebrates Durga Puja, DURGA UTSAV 2026 hopes to make the festival brighter for children in Sapkhali by bringing them not only essential supplies, but also the message that they are remembered, valued and cared for.
About Sri Bharat J Mehra
Sri Bharat J Mehra is an internationally acclaimed philanthropist and a well-known Astromancer, whose work and clientele span a distinguished global circle. Over the years, he has been associated with some of the most prominent names from Bollywood and Hollywood, leading business families, entrepreneurs and corporate leaders.
Yet, despite working with an elite clientele, Bharat J Mehra is known for remaining remarkably grounded and deeply connected to ordinary people and communities in need.
For him, philanthropy is not about visibility but about impact. His initiatives increasingly focus on children, education, nutrition and essential support for underprivileged communities, particularly those living in areas where access to resources remains limited.
His Durga Utsav 2026 initiative at Sapkhali, Ganga Sagar, reflects this personal philosophy—taking the joy of the festive season beyond the privileged and ensuring that children in remote communities of Bengal can celebrate with new clothes, food and essential supplies.
From the Elite to the Underserved
His journey presents an interesting contrast: while his professional world includes some of the richest and most influential personalities in India and abroad, his philanthropic efforts take him to villages and communities where even basic necessities can make a significant difference.
For Bharat J Mehra, the value of giving is not measured by the status of the recipient, but by the difference it makes to a life.
That philosophy lies at the heart of Durga Utsav 2026—a celebration where the spirit of Maa Durga becomes a reason to reach out, share and bring smiles to children who deserve to be part of the festive joy.
