A new organisation, Sanatani Swasthya Sena (3S), dedicated to promoting preventive healthcare, healthy living, medical outreach and social service, was formally launched with its first convention held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at ITC Sonar, Kolkata.
The convention brought together more than 700 doctors from different medical specialities, along with healthcare professionals, social workers and supporters of a healthy and value-based Sanatani lifestyle. The organisation identifies its broad mission with health, service and dedication, with an emphasis on preventive awareness, healthcare accessibility and community welfare.
Renowned interventional cardiologist Dr. P. K. Hazra, National Chairman of Sanatani Swasthya Sena, formally inaugurated the organisation and addressed the gathering on the need for greater emphasis on preventive healthcare and community-oriented medical service.
Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal, Director, International Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, was also present at the convention and was felicitated by Dr. P. K. Hazra for his contribution to health promotion and lifestyle awareness.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Suresh Kumar Agarwal said that the Sanatani lifestyle, with its emphasis on balanced living, discipline, yoga, pranayama, meditation, appropriate diet and daily routine, can make an important contribution to reducing risk factors associated with many chronic non-communicable diseases.
He emphasised that healthcare should not remain confined to treatment after illness occurs, but should also focus on prevention and healthy living.
“Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation should become an integral part of our daily routine for maintaining a healthy body, a calm mind and emotional balance. Prevention begins with our everyday lifestyle.”
Dr. Agarwal further highlighted the importance of combining traditional Indian wellness practices with contemporary understanding of preventive health and lifestyle medicine.
