Braithwaite & Co. Limited (BCL) developed India’s first Container to transport Green Hydrogen

Braithwaite & Co. Limited (BCL), a Miniratna-1 CPSU under Ministry of Railways is moving towards becoming a Container Manufacturing Hub of the Country. Continuing ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ & ‘Make in India’ programmes of Government of India, BCL has developed the India’s first Container to carry Green Hydrogen Equipment.

The 40ft x 8ft x 9.6ft Insulated and Ventilated Container is designed and manufactured for process of electrolysis of water splitting into Hydrogen & Oxygen using electricity generated from renewable sources like solar and wind. This type of Special & Customized Container is first of its kind in India. After successful installation, commissioning and testing, BCL is expecting more orders from different sectors and industry houses.

This Container is different from normal ISO Containers & it has 9 doors, 7 ventilators. It is equipped with Stack Arrangement Unit, Cooling Unit, Water Treatment Plant, Air-Cooler, Rectifier, Hydrogen Purification Unit

, Electrical Cabinet & Exhaust Fan. The product Hydrogen will be purified through purification unit- Air cooler/ Cooling Unit (Chiller Unit) to be installed on the roof.

Highlighting this major accomplishment, Chairman & Managing Director Md. Asad Alam said, ‘BCL has developed the country’s first Green Hydrogen Container and this is a proud moment for all of us. After successful testing and commissioning, BCL expects to get a large number of orders from different sectors/ Industry houses in India and abroad. Earlier these containers were imported from Sweden, but with indigenous design and development it will be very cost effective for the logistics sector.’

A leading hydrogen technology company GreenH Electrolysis Pvt. Ltd., Gurugram in joint venture with H2B2 Electrolysis Technology- Spain/Germany placed the order to BCL.
